Klopp: ‘Congratulations to Nottingham Forest, it was like a European night for Liverpool’
Jurgen Klopp congratulated the Liverpool players on their victory at the City Ground which took them fourth in the FA Cup but at the same time tipped his hat off to Nottingham Forest for the game he played against his team.
Liverpool got a ticket to the English Cup semi-finals where they will compete with Manchester City for a place in the grand final, but to succeed they first had to sweat a lot at the City Ground.
This is because Nottingham Forest seemed very competitive throughout the game, also inspired by the great qualifiers they celebrated in the same tournament with Arsenal and Leicester this season to concede a goal from Zota in the 78th minute from an assist from Tsimikas to need the two groups.
“In several moments of the game it was exactly what I expected. We had seen their games with Arsenal and Leicester and the only coincidence was not their success.
Steve Cooper is doing a great job on the bench at Nottingham Forest and congratulations to him and his team. “We should have played better but they made it difficult for us.” Liverpool’s German technical director stressed in his post-match statements, to add:
“It was a real cup game. Before the game you talked (to journalists) about a European night in Nottingham and it was more or less like that.
We managed to qualify and I’m really happy. The goal was great, Zotas used his body well to take the lead and score”.
You are invited to comment for the presence of Kostas Tsimikas in the game, he said: “He only returned yesterday (19.3.). He had coronavirus but no symptoms. He could play 90 minutes and that was really great.”
