Ranknik suggested Premier League referees train with teams
Ralph Rangnick made a landmark move when the Manchester United manager suggested teams should let referees train with them.
Ralph Rangni is a man who has modern ideas for football and it seems he not only tries to pass them on to the teams he works for but also to share them with the football authorities to improve the sport.
Somehow, he came up with a proposal that caused a stir, with the Manchester United manager emphasizing that a good way to improve the relationship between players and the referees who officiate teams’ games is to train together.
“Bringing level referees like Anthony Taylor, Michael Oliver and Kevin Fred to the teams’ training grounds would allow them to get to know the players and potentially break down negative stereotypes.”said the German coach recently at a meeting between the coaches and chief referee Mike Riley.
According to today’s publication of the Daily Mail, the German’s proposal will be examined by the referees and it is very likely that with the start of the new Premier League season we will adopt the above scenario.
“Ever since I’ve been a referee I thought it would improve our relationship with the players and I still think it’s a great idea.
The referees know the rules of the game inside and out, but this gives them the opportunity to understand the game from the players’ point of view. The only problem with this plan is the fuel it would give the conspiracy theorists.
“If, for example, Michael Oliver is training with Newcastle and then makes a controversial decision against one of his opponents in the fight to stay up, there will be an outcry.”said in a column led by Super League Interwetten chief referee Mark Clattenberg in the newspaper.
