Liverpool 2-0 Watford: The unstoppable Reds made it ’10 to 10′ and put extra pressure on City
Not wanting with his performance, Liverpool took the substance against Watford at Anfield with the Reds prevailing 2-0 and achieving the 10 straight wins which put them +2 from Manchester City with more games to play.
The Liverpool train has nothing to say about the brakes. Fighting to save Watford found it difficult for the Reds, who failed to achieve high standards of performance but still managed to prevail 2-0 in the 31st game of the Premier League with Zota and Fambino as goalscorers.
This was in fact the 10th consecutive win for Jurgen Klopp in the league which alone saw him top the table at +2 against Manchester City ahead of the April 10 derby at Etihad with Citizens still having a chance to win the To win back first if they manage to leave Burnley headquarters on Saturday afternoon with a three-pointer.
The game
Liverpool have had 9 (consecutive) wins and 1 draw in the Premier League in 2022 but it seems the league’s suspension over national team commitments derailed Klopp’s side, who faced several difficulties against Watford. The Wasps were better and more active on the pitch for the first 20 minutes, but then came the 22nd minute, which changed the balance.
The visitors had a great opportunity to take the lead but Allison stopped Koutska’s place through the box and just 34 seconds later it was the Reds celebrating. That goal wasn’t enough to ignite the wick and upset Liverpool, however, as the Reds picked the ball up a little more but didn’t have very big strides, that stat held until half-time and worried Klopp.
The situation didn’t change dramatically in the second half as Watford squandered a great equalizer opportunity in the 57th minute with Joao Pedro firing from an advantageous position (he missed a few outs) and Liverpool took control from the 60th minute mainly took over threatening from static phases and not being able to “choke” her opponent in order to “kill” the match.
In 69′ Klopp replaced Salah with Mane and in 78′ Hodgson threw in three attacking players to go for it all, but instead of a draw a reckless player gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead. This was done by Koutska who hit Zota in the penalty area with the referee controlling the phase by VAR and showing the white ball and Fambino scored 89′ 2-0 with his fifth goal of the year and signed the ’10 by 10′ the red .
