He wants McLaren to be Ten Hach’s assistant when he shakes hands with the Dutchman

Manchester United are seriously considering the fall of Steve McLaren for the position of Eric ten Hach’s direct employee should the Dutchman become their new manager, the Guardian newspaper has revealed.

Ralph Rangnick has taken on the role of official on the Manchester United bench and his replacement is expected to be announced in the season finale, with the Red Devils already beginning to review the main candidates for the position.

The cases of Ten Hach, Pochettino, Tuhel, Lopetegui and Enrique have reportedly been singled out, but what has become clear in the context of this informal race is that whoever – clearly – started first is the Ajax coach.

On Tuesday afternoon (5/4) another post came to reinforce the above view. This comes from the Guardian newspaper and is signed (in the form of ‘exclusive’) by journalist Jamie Jackson, who claims the English club want Steve McLaren to support Ten Haha.

“As the current Ajax manager has never worked in the Premier League before, the ideal candidate to be a direct partner should be someone with experience in the organisation.

“Steve McLaren was United’s number two as Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant from 1999 to 2001.” says the journalist to complete:

“If these two recruitments are made, the roles will be reversed for this pair. McLaren had Ten Hach, with his vast experience, as his assistant during the 2008/09 season when he was in charge of Twente. He then guided her to 2nd place and a year later at his first championship”.

It is noted that in addition to his presence at United and Twente, McLaren sat on the England team bench for 18 games from 2006-07 (16 months) while working at team level in Middlesbrough, Wolfsburg. Nottingham Forest, Derby and Newcastle with KPR being his last training stint three years ago.
