Conte for Kane: “Harry has to be the starting point if we want titles”
Antonio Conte understands that Harry Kane wants to win trophies in his career and stresses that the Englishman must be the starting point if Tottenham are to celebrate titles.
Antonio Conte went to Tottenham with the aim of keeping it competitive and taking their trophies. What Mauricio Pochettino did not manage himself in “Sporen”, he also knows that it is not an easy thing. At the same time, he knows very well that Harry Kane is invaluable to his team, but does not ignore the Englishman’s desire to win titles in his career. After all, that was the reason the 28-year-old was thinking of leaving given the prospects for Manchester City.
Conte said Daniel Livy made the decision to keep Kane on the roster and build a team around him that would return to trophies. The last one was the 2008 League Cup. “I knew the situation back in the summer and when Harry decided to stay at Tottenham I found a player who is fully involved in this project. If we’re going to think about building something to win, Harry has to be the starting point. ” Conte said and continued:
“I understand Harry’s situation. When you finish your career, you can see what you’ve done and the teams you’ve played for, but at the same time it’s right to see what you’ve won. This is especially important for the top players thinking “When Tottenham brought me here they wanted to send a message and maybe to our players. We have to try to create a situation where we can be competitive in order to win.”
