Manchester City are launching an investigation into two of their fans who are pictured in footage circulating on social media making obscene gestures at Liverpool fans in reference to the Hillsborough tragedy.
Manchester City have launched a search for two fans who were standing in the stands at Etihad and gesturing at Reds fans after the end of the game against Liverpool.
According to British media, certain fans in particular made obscene gestures towards Reds fans in reference to the Hillsborough tragedy, with the material circulating on social media.
Citizens are already investigating the incident as they take it very seriously and the ax is expected to be heavy.
It is recalled that at Hilsborough Stadium, the headquarters of Sheffield United, 97 Liverpool friends died playing Nottingham Forest for the English Cup semi-final in 1989. The door was already full of fans, resulting in deaths from suffocation and trampling .
This match was a milestone in the country’s football safety rules and the state issued an apology through David Cameron (then Prime Minister of the UK) after 23 years since, until 2012, the fans themselves were blamed for the tragic event.
