Pope Francis granted Vlachodemos a pardon
Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal last August resulted in the granting of clemency to Odysseus Vlachodemos for a very special case.
The Record revealed an incredible story involving him on Tuesday Odyssey VlachodimosPope Francis and a Benfica documentary in which the Greek goalkeeper cursed Porto.
It all started last October when the third episode of “Eu Amo o Benfica” aired. That’s what the 29-year-old national player says “These guys are a bunch of shit.”a sentence that led him to the relevant sports authorities.
Benfica claimed the action was “Steal Team”but the sports judge was not convinced and prepared to penalize Vlahodemos with one to four games, even though he is now playing in Nottingham.
However, Pope Francis’ visit to Portugal in early August turned things on their head. As part of World Youth Day (August 1-6), the Pope pardoned all the country’s young people who were accused of minor crimes. This pardon also applied to football.
Vlachodemos was spared punishment due to the Pope’s pardon and left all outstanding matters with Benfica, who, however, did not escape the fine of 16,320 euros for the behavior of their former player.
