Liverpool: “Publish audio of referee conversation with VAR”
Liverpool have submitted a request to PGMOL for an audio recording of the referee’s discussion with VAR over Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal.
Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal in Liverpool’s game against Tottenham Hotspur was the subject of much debate as the Colombian midfielder was clearly offside, but the VAR did not intervene and the goal was not counted.
Following Sunday’s announcement, Liverpool are requesting the audio recording of referee Simon Hooper’s conversation with VAR referee Darren England.
The Reds made an explicit request for complete transparency for a goal that was completely wrongly disallowed, as replays showed that Dias was not exposed.
PGMOL (the referees body) has described this phase as “significant human error” and promised to investigate the matter.
