Championship: Marco Silva’s Fulham are back in the Premier League
Fulham’s Marco Silva and 40-goal Aleksandar Mitrovic returned to the Premier League as either champions or runners-up after beating Preston 3-0 at Craven Cottage and mathematically climbing out of the Championship.
The elevator continues, this time going up. THAT Fulham from the 2017-2018 season, he alternates between the championship and the premier league every year, changing category again in the summer, this time to return to the “grand salons”.
Marco Silva’s team was best in class and was only waiting for mathematical confirmation. The three defeats in the last five games showed the relaxation of the players, but in this against preston at “Craven Cottage” for the 43rd game, the win came along 3-0 which also sent them mathematically into the Premier League, either as champions or runners-up.
The protagonists this year are her two heroes. On the one hand, the “artillery” Aleksandar Mitrovic, who reached 40 in this year’s championship with two goals, only two behind the performance of Guy Whittingham from Portsmouth in 1992-1993 (at the level of the 2nd division of the English championship, the record belongs to George Kamcel of Middlesbrough, who scored 59 goals in 1926-1927).
The second goalscorer of the three goals that decided the game in the first half was Fabio Carvalho, who will leave as a free agent this summer to join Liverpool’s potential.
The move secures Fulham’s fund at least €193m over three years, although it does continue the tradition of recent years and switch categories again next summer.
The former Olympiacos manager, who took over in the summer after Scott Parker left the team to go to Bournemouth, will if he stays train with a fourth other club in the Premier League, after Hull, Watford and Everton.
