Postecoglous Tottenham are off to their best start since 1961
Tottenham Hotspur have made their best start to the Premier League since 1961 as they won eight straight to start the season. The Londoners have six wins and two draws with the Greek-Australian on the bench.
As many people were not happy when Tottenham decided to hand over the keys to the dressing room to Angelos Postecoglou, the results so far prove quite the opposite. The London club have made an impressive start to the Premier League, picking up 20 points in the league and sitting at the top with a game to play.
In the post-Kane era, Tottenham “flies” onto the pitch and counts six wins and two draws for 20 points. Their final victim was Luton, who they beat 1-0 despite struggling the entire second half with ten men due to Bisuma’s suspension.
This is Tottenham’s best start since the 1960/61 season, when they started with eight consecutive wins. He hasn’t had such a strong run in the league since then and that bodes well for the future. Of course, the path is uphill and difficult, but the Greek-Australian technician is doing a good job so far and enjoys everyone’s appreciation.
Historically, with the exception of Aston Villa in 1999, no other team in the Premier League has achieved such a record outside the top four in their first eight games. Last but not least, the “Spurs” project is very interesting…
