Black armbands and minute’s silence before Premier League games over clashes in Israel and Gaza

The Premier League announced that as a mark of respect for the victims of the bloody conflicts in Israel and Gaza, all players will wear black armbands in Matchday 9 games and there will be a minute’s silence.

The war in the Middle East is now in its sixth day, with conflicts escalating and “spreading” on many fronts, both in Israel and Gaza as well as on the borders with Lebanon and Syria.

After the bloody clashes in which hundreds of civilians were killed and injured, the Premier League has announced what the players will wear on Matchday 9 (October 21st – October 23rd). black armbands, while A minute’s silence will be observed before the games as a sign of respect for the victims.


“The Premier League is shocked and saddened by the escalating crisis in Israel and Gaza and condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific and brutal acts of violence against innocent civilians.”

As a mark of respect for all those affected, Premier League players, managers and match officials will wear black armbands and observe a minute’s silence at matches from Saturday 21st until Monday, October 23rd.

The league will also make a donation to the British Red Cross to support relief efforts for people in urgent need.”
