Crystal Palace 1-2 Tottenham: First escape from Selhurst Park with Sean at the helm

Another three points for Tottenham, who escaped from Selhurst Park to beat Crystal Palace 2-1. Spurs took the lead through Ward’s own goal in the 53rd minute and Sean set up the final score in the 66th minute. The hosts reduced the score to 90+4 through Agiou.

Tottenham achieved their fourth treble in a row in the Premier League with a 2-1 home win against Crystal Palace and will of course stay at the top of the league for another matchday.

The double was not easy for Angelos Postecoglou’s team as they ended the first half without a final goal, something that had happened for the first time. Spurs set their pace but Crystal Palace coped well and had a few chances to score but to no avail.

However, everything changed quickly in the second half when they scored the first goal in the 53rd minute. Maddison made the powerful turn from the right and Ward sent it into his team’s net as he tried to clear the ball.

Soon afterwards the goal came from Sean, who was particularly in form. After a good development from Tottenham on the left with Maddison and Brennan Johnson, the latter turned at the level of the penalty area and shot the ball into the net from close range. This was Sean’s eighth goal in a Tottenham shirt in the last seven games.

The pace of the game was slow in the remaining minutes, but the game “gained momentum” at 90+4 minutes. Ayou sent the ball into the net with nice control and a nice finish. The phase was checked for around three minutes in VAR to see whether the Ivorian also used his hand to control it. However, nothing changed in the final and it remained 2-1 until the end.

Crystal Palace: Johnston, Ward, Andersen, Gwehi, Mitchell (70′ Clyne), Ducouret, Lerma (79′ Franca), Ayew, Hughes (70′ Ahamada), Schlup (60′ Rak – Saki), Edouard (79′ Mateta).
