Manchester United in crisis: Worst start since 1962/63
Manchester United were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United in the League Cup round of 16, adding another defeat to a very poor start to the season.
Newcastle got revenge on Manchester United for last year’s League Cup final defeat, humiliating them in the round of 16 of this year’s competition with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are in a deep crisis. In the league they are in 8th place with 15 points, while in the Champions League they are third with three points. In fact, this is one of their worst starts in recent years.
Manchester United have suffered exactly eight defeats in their first 15 games across all competitions. According to Opta, the Red Devils have lost 8+ in their first 15 games for the first time since 1962/63 (they had lost nine games back then).
In fact, Manchester United have lost five of their first ten home games. Something that has been happening since 1930/31.
