Trippier fights with Newcastle fan after defeat to Bournemouth
The loss to Bournemouth left the Newcastle camp on edge as Kieran Trippier had a verbal altercation with one of his team’s away fans and Zoelindon stepped in to calm the mood.
Newcastle didn’t have a good night in Bournemouth on Saturday evening (11/11) and capitulated to the home team. Dominic Solanke’s two goals handed the Magpies their second consecutive defeat and pushed them out of the top six of the Premier League.
In fact, things spiraled out of control after the final match at the Vitaliy Stadium when Eddie Howe’s players walked up to their away fans to applaud them for their support and television cameras watched Kieran Trippier spiral out of control.
Because he heard something from a Magpies friend when the England right-back was angry and verbally arguing with him, only to say to him during their heated exchange: “How many injuries do we have?”
Zoelindon and Eddie Howe had to intervene to calm the situation. Trippier spoke to Sky Sports when asked about the incident:
“The fans are influenced by emotions, that’s normal. They travel far and spend a lot of money to visit us.”
I had a conversation with one of them, I said we’ll give it our all. There is no need to panic, we are still in a good position in the league, we are in the fight for the Champions League and in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup there is no reason to panic.
We lost, we apologize for this result, but the most important thing is that the children give their all. Under these circumstances we give more.”
