Athletic: ‘Nottingham plans to increase City Ground capacity with Qatar-style architecture’
Nottingham Forest are looking to increase the capacity of the City Ground to boost attendance at home games and have already drawn up a plan modeled on the World Cup in Qatar, reports Athletic.
According to the Athletic, Nottingham Forest have already planned to increase the capacity of the City Ground to over 30,000 seats.
In particular, plans have already been drawn up to build a platform with shipping containers modeled on the “974” stadium in Qatar, which served as the venue for the 2022 World Cup and was dismantled.
These stands (if this plan is implemented) will be built in the corners of the field. So far it is in early stages and no decision has been made yet. If this plan is implemented (and the necessary approvals are obtained), it is likely that it will begin shortly before Christmas.
