Klopp: “Manchester City is the strongest team in the world in recent years”
Jürgen Klopp claimed before the Premier League’s top derby against Manchester City (November 25th) that the games with Pep Guardiola’s team were the most difficult and demanding in recent years.
Liverpool face Manchester City at the Etihad on Saturday (November 25) in a derby that sees the two teams battling it out for the top spot in the Premier League.
At the press conference on Friday (November 24th), Jürgen Klopp referred to the rivalry with the Citizens, the hunt for the title and claimed that his team’s most difficult games in recent years were the ones against Pep Guardiola.
“I don’t know if the rivalry between Manchester City and Liverpool is the biggest in the Premier League, but oh wellIt’s the hardest game you’ve played in years.
If we make the game uncomfortable for them, we have a chance. If they feel comfortable in their game, no team has a chance against them. We feel like we’re a little closer this season, but we have to win crucial battles on the pitch.
Saturday will be difficult, they are the strongest team in the world in recent years. Our record at the Etihad is not great, you will tell me. They are extremely good, nothing I can say makes them any weaker, otherwise I would. Last year is just a memory.
I can’t remember City’s lineup last year and don’t want to make a comparison. We weren’t good enough last season, but we had to make changes.”
