Everton 0-3 Manchester United: Red tide swept away Goodison
Manchester United put in an impressive performance at Goodison and beat second-to-last Everton 3-0, celebrating their fifth win in their last six league games and climbing to 6th place.
Everton were desperate for a win after being handed a 10-point deduction from this year’s table (for breaching Premier League financial regulations), but the timing of the second leg with Manchester United was not good for them.
And that’s because Eric ten Hach’s side came to Goodison on the back of four wins in their last five league games, with the Red Devils having taken the lead of late and also beating Sean Dyche’s side, winning 3-0 and moved up to sixth place and +1 from Newcastle, against whom they will play away next matchday.
Alejandro Garnazzo’s stunning backwards header in the 3rd minute paved the way for United’s triumph, with Rashford making it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 56th minute and Martial scoring the late winner with a superb penalty in the 76th minute.
It should be noted that this was the first time that United celebrated a victory in this year’s Premier League with a difference of more than one goal (the previous seven were on goal), while Everton, for its part, now has only two wins in the last 20 meetings with the Red Devils, regardless of home and organization.
The match
United were fortunate to take the lead in the 3rd minute with a world-class goal from Garnazzo (scored by Rooney’s historic Manchester derby goal in the last decade) and were in control in the 20th minute, but Everton took over as the game wore on the reins and push for the equalizer.
The Candies had great chances with Calvert-Lewin, McNeill and Ducouret but failed to equalize. In the first half final, the home team had 10 finals (4 away), but United took the maximum of 2 finals in the first half corresponding interval.
In the second half, Everton aggressively tried to bring the game back into balance, but within minutes all hopes were dashed. Young found Martial with his foot in the penalty area and the referee showed the white arrow after he went to the monitor to watch the action, with Rashford scoring his second goal of the season from the penalty spot in the 56th minute to make it 2-0.
This essentially determined the development of the game, with the Dice players slowly losing strength and self-confidence and the Ten Hach players managing their lead relatively easily, even making it 3:00 in the 75th minute with the first goal of the year through Martial’s goal. 0 to consolidate 6th place in the overall ranking.
