Csimikas: “Liverpool believed in me even when I didn’t play much”
Andy Robertson’s injury has ‘favored’ Costas Tsimikas, who has been given more playing time. The Greece international stressed that he is not worried about his teammate’s return, but that Liverpool trust him even if he hasn’t played that often.
Kostas Tsimikas had the opportunity to get more playing time for Liverpool due to the injury to Andy Robertson, who suffered a shoulder injury during an international match in Scotland in October and will be out for around three months.
Before the game against Fulham (December 3), the Greek full-back emphasized that he was not worried about his teammate’s return and explained that the team needed all of its players.
“I always enjoy playing, even the bad games I play. I try to enjoy every moment because every game is a great opportunity. Of course, I really enjoy playing more often now. For me it is something very big to play at this club and I will do my best.
But I want Robbo, and Robbo wants me. It is not possible for one player to play all games. At the moment I’m really enjoying playing, I want to stay focused and I’m looking forward to the next games. I always feel like I can play. I don’t think about when Robo will come back or who will play.
I hope he comes back as strong as before. We’ll see, nobody knows. I just try to always stay focused to do my job in the best possible way. It is important that everyone is always ready. I think every player on the team wants to play every time, but like I said, you can’t play every game.
That’s why we have very good players on the bench who are very hungry and give everything and help the team achieve their goals. I think everyone wants the same thing: for the team to win.
It was difficult when I came here to play the football that “Robo” played. You need time to adjust. But the club believed in me, even when I didn’t play much. Everyone needs time to find their best form, but you should always enjoy it as much as you can at this club.
We have very good players and that’s why we’re in this big club. We fight every day, even when we’re not playing. It’s very hard to stay fit and be 100% ready.” said the 27-year-old defender.
