Chelsea beat Brighton, Bournemouth lost to Villa
Despite playing less than 45 minutes, Chelsea beat Brighton 3-2 in London and returned to winning ways. A block in Bournemouth for the ambitious Aston Villa, who remained 2-2 against the team of the same name.
Chelsea needed a performance boost after last weekend’s collapse at St. James’ Park against Newcastle and got it at Stamford Bridge against Brighton on Sunday afternoon (March 12).
The two teams met in the 14th game of the Premier League, with the Londoners starting the game furiously and scoring two goals against their group rivals AEK with Fernandes (17th minute) and Colwill (21st). However, the Europa League responded with Buonanotte in the 43rd minute and gained a numerical advantage by sending off Gallagher with a second yellow card in the 45th minute.
Despite this disadvantage, Pochettino’s men held on and even made it 3-1 with De thanks to a well-placed penalty from Fernandes in the 65th minute (he scored his first two Premier League goals with Chelsea in his 31st appearance for the Blues).
