Manchester City 3-3 Tottenham: The dream derby at the Etihad had six goals but no winner
Manchester City rolled over and took the lead twice in the game, but Tottenham showed character and a 90th-minute goal from Kulusevski kept them up at the Etihad, earning a 3-3 draw against the English and European champions.
Matchday 14 of the Premier League was born from the wildest dreams of English football fans and beyond, with countless goals and exciting games coming one after the other at machine gun speed. And that’s because a few hours after the duel at Anfield, where Liverpool beat Fulham 4-3 by causing the surprise with goals in the 87th and 88th minutes, the thriller continued at the Etihad Manchester City and Tottenham drew 3 -3 in a match that captivated the audience from the first to the last second.
Tottenham took the lead in the 6th minute, City had pulled the trigger in the 31st minute and could have scored at least two more goals, with Spurs leveling the score at 2-2 in the 69th minute. Guardiola’s 3-2 at 81′ and Postecoglou takes the bite (three points) in his mouth at 90′.
It is worth noting that this was the second home league game in a row (and the second overall in 2023) that City did not win (after drawing 1-1 with Liverpool), while Tottenham got a great result, taking a run of three Consecutive defeats in the Premier League ended Chelsea, Wolves and Aston Villa.
The match
Tottenham caused a complete surprise at Manchester City by making it 0-1 in the 6th minute when Son eliminated Ederson with a powerful shot and completed his team’s counterattack perfectly, but 137 seconds later the same player proved deadly After a foul, the South Korean finds the ball with his foot and beats Vicario (1:1).
A few minutes later, Haaland missed the point by firing the ball wide in front of an almost undefended goal, but then came the phase in the 31st minute when Guardiola’s men hid the ball from their opponents, with Alvarez passing it to Foden and he taking it Scored a 2-0 goal. 1 with Olympic poise.
The 2-1 at the end of the first half was flattering for Tottenham, as in addition to the two goals, City scored two braces (with Alvarez in the 30th minute and Doku in the 35th minute) and a total of 12 final goals, only 2 for the Londoners, while the situation didn’t seem to change in the second half and the English and European champions were in control.
However, Tottenham were not ready to throw in the towel just yet and it showed in the 69th minute when their players won the ball outside the home area and Lo Celso sank a great low kick to curl the ball into the right corner. Home of Ederson (2-2).
That goal froze City, but within minutes they regained their composure and applied crushing pressure to the opposition’s frames so that justice prevailed in the 81st minute, with Haaland abandoning the role of enforcer and becoming creator, a great assist for Grealish, who made the final score 3-2 from close range.
For him this goal was cathartic as he had a long time to find the net, but not for his team as Angelos Postecoglou had the last word in the 90th minute, Johnson made a cross near the small penalty area and Kulusewski did it Made the ball fly and scored the 3-3 with the help of the crossbar.
In stoppage time, City almost scored a fourth goal when Grealish stormed into the opposition area with the ball at his feet, but the referee stopped him by awarding a foul to Haaland, who had taken the lead (the Norwegian fell, stood but quickly opened up and clarified). Ball for Grealish); his whistle provoked a strong reaction from their players and Guardiola (he did not give up the advantage) to watch the final in an epic game a few minutes later.
