De Gerby: “I am in talks with Brighton about a new contract”
Roberto De Gerbi is in the sights of several European clubs, but Brighton is his priority. The Italian announced in a press conference that he was negotiating with management to sign a new contract.
Roberto De Gerbi proved his worth on Italian soil by putting Sassuolo firmly on the country’s football map, and in recent years he has steadily increased his stock by taking over first Shakhtar and then Brighton.
As coach of the Seagulls, he was the one who sent them to the European Cups for the first time in their history and a few days ago – with the away win over AEK – he became the one who led them to the knockout games of Zum for the first time in the Europa League, his appetite for success has grown.
In fact, despite appearing to be under pressure from several Old Continent teams, he appears unwilling to leave the Premier League side any time soon, with the 44-year-old admitting he is negotiating with management over a new club Cooperation agreement, although he will be linked to her for another three years (until summer 2026).
“I usually work to be happy, have fun and feel comfortable in Brighton. I have a great relationship with the players, the club, Tony Bloom (chairman), David Weir (acting manager) and everyone who works here.”
“We are talking about a new contract, but at the moment there are only discussions, nothing has been finalized yet.”emphasized De Gerby during today’s press conference (May 12th) and added:
“We have to think about the goals. If they match those of the club, it will be an honor for me to work at Brighton. I’m not trying to reach a higher level.”
The most important thing for me is to work seriously, with a good team, with good players. For me it’s important to set an important goal.”
