Luton – Arsenal 3-4: Rice prepares the Londoners for an epic surprise with his goal in the 90th + 7th minute
Luton were just a breath away from grabbing a crucial point in the fight for survival, but in the closing stages of the game Declan Rice gave leaders Arsenal an epic 4-3 victory in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
There is no stopping the magical performances that the Premier League offers fans, as after Liverpool’s 4-3 win against Fulham and Manchester City’s 3-3 win against Tottenham last Sunday took over, the tension was soaring Luton’s impressive clash with Arsenal on Tuesday evening took the upper hand.
The Premier League leaders wanted victory to remain alone at the top and after matchday 15, however, the newcomers proved a tough nut to crack. The two teams leveled 3-3 in the 96th minute, but Declan Rice came on as a substitute and carried the hero’s mantle, giving Arteta’s side a huge 4-3 win in the seventh minute of stoppage time in the final stages of the game bestowed.
The match
Arsenal – as expected – took the initiative from the first minutes, but failed to find a final attempt, so the 20th minute phase came and put them at the top of the game.
After a quick throw-in, Saka penetrated the penalty area from the right and converted the ball at the right moment into the penalty area, where Gabriel Martinelli sent the ball from the penalty spot into the right corner of Kaminski’s goal, scoring his second goal in this year’s championship (0 -1).
Luton’s answer came five minutes later, also in the first good moment of the game, when Gabriel Oso headed the ball from a corner to make it 1-1, giving him the first goal of his career in only his sixth Premier League appearance.
As a result, Arsenal pressed and saw Kaminski stop the dangerous shots from Martinelli (32′) and Saka (40′), and in the 45th minute they finally made amends when Jesus headed the ball in from just outside the small penalty area scored with a good shot – placed a cross from White to give his team the lead again.
At the end of the first half, Arsenal were rewarded for their better image against Luton (2:8 in the final, 2:6 away, 36% – 64% possession, 0.17 – 1.04 x goals), but experienced less than 10 Minutes of ups and downs in the second part.
In the 49th minute, Luton once again beat the Londoners through the air, with Adebayo deftly beating Raya from a corner to make it 2-2 with his third goal of the season, while Barkley turned the tables in the 57th minute with a diagonal left-footed shot. On his 30th birthday, he shot his foot into the penalty area (the ball went under the body of the Spanish goalkeeper who brought it in). responsibility for this goal too).
Luckily for Arsenal, they didn’t fall behind long enough to panic, as the score was 3-3 in the 60th minute when Jesus took advantage of the defenders’ inability to clear and played a clever pass to Havertz, who hit the ball. Ball over Kaminski.
In the sequel, the pace dropped after the 15 minutes of madness that began in “Kenilworth Road”, when Arsenal really stepped on the gas again in the final phase of the game and missed the chance to surprise themselves in the 76th minute with a powerful shot from Trossard that went just over the crossbar.
Ten minutes later it was Havertz’s turn and he missed a great chance. Kaminski saved the German’s header from the height of the penalty area for a corner, which sent the game into six minutes of stoppage time, and there Arteta’s team settled in the Luton penalty area trying with all their might to keep the point.
He made it to the 96th minute, but in stoppage time… Addition time spoke to Arsenal’s sheer determination to stay alone at the top, as Edgaard curled in a superb cross from the left and Rice fired a stunning header to send it down the left Corner from Kaminski’s goal and give his team a big win.
