Guardiola’s response: “Carragher never won a championship, Neville never won four”
Pep Guardiola has sent a message to those who criticize Manchester City’s performance and talk of complacency, hitting back at veteran United defenders Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher, among others.
Pep Guardiola is confident that Manchester City will retain the Premier League title if the team maintains its current level of performance. The treble winner has drawn his last three games against Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham.
This event took the Citizens to 3rd place in the table and -6 behind league leaders Arsenal and was highly commented on by football experts.
At the press conference, Guardiola referred to the experienced players from Manchester United and Liverpool as well as current commentators: Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher said:
“I have nothing to say. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think it’s complacency. I know the players, I know how they run. The way we behave is terrible.”
THE Gary Neville xHow difficult it is, otherwise they would have won the Premier League four times in a row in Manchester United’s best season. But he did not do it.
I see my team, how they fight, how they apply pressure, how they persevere until the end and how sad they are after the defeat. Maybe I’m wrong and they see everything I can’t see, but I don’t have that feeling.
Jamie Carragher hasn’t won a single championship title. Micah Richards hasn’t won four championships in a row. Never”, said the Spanish coach.
