The Sheffield captain didn’t wear a rainbow armband in the defeat to Liverpool

Sheffield’s Anel Ahmaddzic has become the first Premier League captain in seven years not to wear the rainbow armband.

Van Dijk scored in the first half and Sombosli in the second half. First division side Liverpool beat bottom-placed Sheffield United 2-0 and continues their pursuit of Arsenal to reduce the gap at the top to two points.

Sheffield’s Anel Ahmaddzic took over as captain in John Egan’s absence. However, he is their first leader Premier League after seven years without wearing the rainbow armband.

As part of the campaign Rainbow Laces: The captains of all 20 clubs in the English league had to symbolically wear this special armband during their gamestook place on December 2nd. until 07.12. instead to show their support all LGBT people.
