Aston Villa’s incredible performance with Unai Emery showing championship form
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are in excellent form and have turned Villa Park into an impregnable fortress, so the ‘omen’ points to the championship.
After Manchester City, it was Arsenal’s turn to bow to Aston Villa at home with the same result (1-0).
Unai Emery’s team in Birmingham won 15 consecutive Premier League victories (under him at the top), which is a record in the club’s history. Eight of those are this season, while last year saw seven consecutive home wins in a run that began on March 4, 2023 with victory over Crystal Palace.
The Spanish coach became the fifth coach in the league to achieve 15 consecutive home wins. The previous four were Ferguson (Manchester United), Mancini (Manchester City), Klopp (Liverpool) and Guardiola (Manchester City). All four ended up winning the championship as they built this winning streak. Time will tell if Emery can pull off his miracle with Aston Villa.
