Norwich are relegated, a lifeline for Burnley

Burnley caused a big upset in the last ten minutes at Watford, finishing 16th with a golden three (2-1) that also saw Norwich relegated.

The miracle of staying in the Premier League, which Burnley have long pursued with tenacity and passion, seems ever closer to becoming flesh and blood.

Mike Jackson’s team (who took on duties after Sean Dice was sacked) did not have their backs to the wall in front of Tarkovsky’s own goal until the 8th minute of the game against Watford at Vicarage Road, but with two goals in the last ten minutes they won via the relegation zone, a result which at the same time doomed Dimitris Giannoulis and Christos Tzolis’ Norwich to relegation.

Cork was the one to end the game for the Clarets in the 83rd minute while Brownhill caused an uproar among Burnley fans three minutes later, giving his team a 2-1 lead in what was also the final. Score.

That reversal was a knife for Watford, now on the brink of collapse and counting down to a farewell to the Premier League, and mathematically something that has already happened to Norwich as they suffer a 2-0 away loss to Aston Villa couldn’t manage to catch the train of stay.

It should be noted that in the game in Birmingham (Watkins in 41′ and Ings in 90+3′ scorers for Gerard’s team) the two Greek Canary Islands footballers, Dimitris Giannoulis and Christos Tzolis, stayed on the bench without wasting time take away from Dean Smith.

In the other two games of the afternoon, Brighton and Crystal Palace enjoyed major away wins, with the Gulls prevailing 3-0 at Wolves’ Molino (Jose Sa key for Wolves) and the Eagles 2-1 clinching the St Marys v Southampton treble.
