Van Dijk’s comment about Manchester United caused Roy Keane to explode
Virgil van Dijk stressed Liverpool were the only team on the pitch in his comments after the derby with Manchester United, sparking a strong reaction from Roy Keane, who was a member of the television panel.
Manchester United achieved their goal of leaving Anfield unscathed after beating Liverpool in the big derby with a 0-0 draw and knocking them off the top, but Virgil van Dijk was furious at the way Eric ten’s side Hach approached the game and showed it with his statements in the final.
“You could see how we played the game, we had more time with the ball at our feet and had more chances. There was only one team that tried to win the game and that’s disappointing.”
We could have made better decisions in the final third of the pitch. I’m disappointed because we were superior in all categories. They danced with the grade they got and we are disappointed,” The Reds’ Dutch stopper pointed this out, infuriating Roy Keane, who overheard the comments as a guest on TNT Sports.
“Van Dijk didn’t respect the club. He should remember that Liverpool have only won one league in 30 years.” said the experienced Irish midfielder, who played for the Red Devils from 1993 to 2005 and won seven championships with her jersey.
