Arteta: “It’s been a while since our last win at Anfield, we can do it again on Saturday”
Arsenal have won at Anfield since Mikel Arteta became a player and the Spanish coach is confident the Gunners can do it again in Saturday’s derby away to Liverpool.
If there is one place that has caused Arsenal more problems than any other in a decade, it is Anfield, where their last away win against Liverpool came in September 2012 when Mikel Arteta was playing for the Londoners.
Now the Spaniard is the man leading them from the bench and in Friday’s press conference ahead of the top-flight derby against Klopp’s Reds he made no secret of his optimism that his side can take the three points.
“The last time we beat them there was a long time ago, we can do that again on Saturday.”
Every game is different, every game is prepared differently. The atmosphere is different and we had a 2-2 draw last year.
There are things from this game that we can repeat and others that we need to do better. It’s always nice to be at the top of the league and we’ll try to stay there, but we have to be smart and manage the game.” emphasized Mikel Arteta, who also identified with the club’s official position of remaining under the wing of UEFA and rejecting the European Super League.
“I share the same view as the management, we love playing in the Champions League and we will continue to do so. The passion of fans is the main reason why the sport is theirs. We should care about the fans and their opinion is very important important”.
