Aston Villa salvaged a point in the 90+8 minute when Gianiolo made it 1-1 against Sheffield United. Villans lost ground in the battle for the lead.

The final at Villa Park was impressive, with the game between Aston Villa and Sheffield United ending 1-1. Before the start of the game, the Villans were aiming for the three points before the Liverpool – Arsenal game (December 23rd, 7:00 p.m.) that would alone give them first place.

In the end, Aston Villa narrowly managed a draw and thus avoided defeat in the final. This took him to 39 points, overtaking the Gunners for first place, albeit with a competitive advantage. On the other hand, Sheffield United finished in 19th place.

The point was saved in the 90+8 minute by Niccolo Zaniolo, who headed the ball into the net after an assist from Douglas Luiz. The visitors took the lead in the 87th minute with a free kick from Archer after a nice turn from Hamer.

The VAR had a lot to do in the game as two penalty cases were checked in favor of the Villans in the first half, while a goal from the home team in the 60th minute was disallowed after a check on the monitor. However, Villa were far from their good form and in the second half Sheffield United tried to threaten.
