If Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is a control freak watching every single monosaccharide molecule that enters his body, then the Leicester star Jamie Vardy It is the opposite of Portuguese.
In 2016, Vardy described his standard pre-match ritual:
- A can of Red Bull was drunk in about 30 seconds just after taking off.
- 11:30 – baked beans, ham and cheese omelet washed down with another can of energy drink.
- Time before the match: double espresso + third Red Bull. “It makes me run like a wreck on game day,” Jamie admitted.
In Leicester’s golden 2015/16 season – the same as Claudio Ranieri’s team won the Premier League sensationally – Vardy followed another unhealthy ritual: drank half a glass of porto the day before the game.
“I just poured it into a plastic bottle and sipped it while watching TV,” said the fox striker. – I’m not a superstitious person, but my first-round goal against Sunderland (As a result, Vardy scored 24 goals in the golden season. – Sport24) I decided not to change anything. Port wine tastes like grape soda. It helped me relax a bit and get a good night’s sleep before the game.”
But when Jamie started, he outdid himself. treat an injury with a mix of vodka and Skittles:
“I had a cramp – a common injury, but it took a long time to recover from it. I made a three-liter bottle of vodka and added a bunch of Skittles in it. When they dissolved, I added more. They were just red and purple as I don’t like orange, green and yellow. I did this about 20 times. And after that you can safely drink vodka, it will taste like Skittles.
When I was bored at home, I poured it into a glass and ate it with pleasure. It was delicious, but it didn’t help – the cramping lasted forever. Dave Rennie, a physical therapist, could not believe the injury had not healed. He once took me out when no one was there and asked: “What are you doing?” “It’s not something I usually do,” I told him. Then I said I was drinking Skittles vodka. “Oh, I see,” Dave was shocked. He explained that alcohol interferes with the healing process.”
Vodka with vodka is not Vardy’s invention, but a fairly common way to make a traditional Russian drink more palatable. For those who want to be like Jamie, we found an easy-to-apply recipe.
What we need:
- 1.75 ml of vodka.
- 450 g “Skittles” (red packaging).
- Glass bottles, plastic bottles and glasses – all 5 pcs.
- Coffee filters – 7-10 pcs.
- Several glass cups with a tea strainer.
- Funnel for pouring liquid.
How to
We sort the dragees by color, in a red pack there are five: orange (orange), yellow (lemon), green (lemon), red (strawberry) and purple (currant). For ease of sorting, we have prepared five glasses. For 24-28 dragees of a certain color, we fall asleep in each plastic bottle.

Fill each bottle with 350 ml of vodka. Shake vigorously until the sugars are completely dissolved. After dissolving, a white liquid will remain on the surface of the already colored vodka – it will need to be filtered using coffee filters and a tea strainer.
We take a glass and put a sieve on it and put a coffee filter in it. We translate this procedure into each glass and begin to strain, pouring vodka from bottles into glasses. Using a funnel, we pour the purified drink from the glasses into glass bottles, which can be sent overnight to the refrigerator or even the freezer.
Important: orange and green vodkas are less filterable, so they must be filtered twice. Please note that the filter material must be changed periodically. If the filters are gone and you are too lazy to run to the store to buy new ones, then everything can come to the rescue: gauze folded in several layers or just a clean, thin T-shirt. Still dirty filters can be cleaned by removing lumps of white slurry with a spoon.
Finally, it is especially important to remember that vodka vodka will be almost as strong as regular vodka, only very sweet. Therefore, it can be used for further mixing: Sprite, Coke, Irn-Bru, etc. And it is ESPECIALLY important to remember that drinking alcohol is harmful. Don’t do this too often.
