The Premier League has decided to postpone Tottenham – Arsenal
The Premier League met on Saturday and decided to accept Arsenal’s request to postpone Sunday’s north London derby with Tottenham as Mikel Arteta’s side have had many absences.
After Burnley-Leicester, the Premier League has postponed the game for the second time in the 22nd game of the top flight of the English Championship and indeed the Great North London Derby between Tottenham and Arsenal.
The game was scheduled for Sunday afternoon (16.1., 6:30 p.m.) but it was “in the air” from Friday evening when the shooters submitted a request to the organizing authority to postpone the derby.
This is due to the 14 absences that the English capital Reds have had in terms of first-team players (due to coronavirus, injuries and participation of their players in the Africa Cup of Nations), with the organizational meeting on Saturday (15 ) and decides to approve the request to accept on reprieve.
“As Arsenal have fewer players than they need to have (one goalkeeper and 13 other players playing in a position other than goalkeeper), the board accepted the club’s application.
The decision is the result of a combination of Covid-19, old and new injuries and players having international commitments at the Africa Cup of Nations.” mentions, among other things, the relevant announcement by the Premier League.
