Brighton 1-1 Chelsea: Not even a win for the Londoners
Chelsea’s competitive crisis has been going well of late, with Thomas Tuchel’s side conceding two more points at home to Brighton (1-1) and going their fourth consecutive league game without a win.
Brighton have never beaten Chelsea in the 14 league meetings between the two sides, but if there’s one side that’s smiled after their two meetings this year it’s Graham Potter.
After the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on December 29, they repeated their home win on Tuesday evening (18 January) after tying the same result as the European champions in their 24th Premier League game.
In the London game, it was Danny Welbeck who injured the Blues with an impressive header goal in the first minute of delay, while the Seagulls at “Amex Stadium” had no striker but a central defender as their hero.
The reason for Adam Webster, who executed Kepa with a header in the 60th minute after a McAllister corner kick from the left, to “nullify” Ziggs’ goal in the 28th minute (he had beaten Sanchez with a left-footed shot outside the box). ” and has kept Londoners locked in a climate of grumbling and introversion for the last 20 days.
It is worth noting that Chelsea are now running a record 4 straight league games without a win (3 draws and 1 loss), which has been happening in Thomas Tuchel’s team since October 2016 when he was on the bench at Dortmund.
Brighton: Sanchez, Feltman, Webster, Byrne, Lambeth (March 76), Gross (Trossar 62), Alsate, Koukoureja, Monter, McAllister, Welbeck (Mope 62)
CHELSEA: Kepa, Athpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Riediger, Hanson-Odoi, Cade, Zorginio (80 Kovacic), Alonso, Mount, Ziggs (81 Werner), Lukaku (80 Haverts)
