Klopp on Allison: “Thanks for saving our asses again”
Liverpool reigned supreme with Manchester City 3-1 at Crystal Palace and Jurgen Klopp paid special tribute to Allison’s three-pointer.
Liverpool were the absolute dominant in the first half at Selhurst Park where they scored twice but in the second they had several difficulties against Crystal Palace and had to have Allison on a very good night until they went 3-1, which they to brought – 9 from the top and with fewer games against champions Manchester City.
This fact did not go unnoticed by Jürgen Klopp, as the German even idolized the excellent Brazilian goalkeeper with his statements in the final of the game.
“Our performance tonight was a bit like Jekyll and Hyde. You can see how good we can get. We were incredible for 35 minutes.
“Then, as a week has passed, I have no real explanation for what happened, but the lack of intensity and freshness can provide the explanation.” Klopp initially said he should be asked what he said to Allison after the match and responded as follows:
“Now I said to him thank you for saving our butts again. He told me it’s my job. Of course it’s very helpful for a team to have a world-class goalkeeper to protect them.”
Referring to Liverpool’s title hopes, given that the difference with City has dropped to single digits, he said: “The distance is too great to talk about, but it’s not necessary.
We just have to win games. As we saw tonight, every Premier League game is difficult. We made it more exciting than necessary! We’ll see what happens in the final months of the season.”
