Roma 0-0 Genoa: Giannolo’s goal didn’t count and the three-pointer was lost
Roma thought they got the victory over Genoa at “Olympic” thanks to a goal from Niccolo Gianniolo in the delay, but the goal didn’t count and the 0-0 remained until the end.
Roma never agreed to concede two points against Genoa on “Olympic”, especially since he played with a player above. Nicolo Gianniolo made a great move with a shot from outside the box and thought he had salvaged the three points of the win, but he counted without Tami Ibrahim’s offensive foul, who actually saved it 0-0 for the 24th game of Serie A.
Jose Mourinho’s men dominated for most of the game against a side that flirts with the bottom of the table and constantly changes coaches. The goal didn’t fall, however, and the tension mounted. Leo Estigard’s dismissal in the 68′ (the Norwegian had passed the game in the 1st half) made the goal even more compelling for the “Gialorosi” who finally found it with the Italy international in the delays.
The furious jubilation turned to agony while the phase was under VAR investigation until the England striker’s breach was determined. Gianniolo was sent off for protesting and the 0-0 remained until the end. THAT Dimitris Keramitsis was left out of the mission for the hosts.
