Tammy Abraham has spoken out about his decision to play in Serie A and Roma, stressing that it improved and developed him, while also referring to Jose Mourinho, revealing he never rewarded him.

In his first season at Roma, Tammy Abraham scored 27 goals and provided six assists in 53 games.

The 24-year-old Englishman, who made the decision to leave Chelsea in the summer of 2021 and compete outside his country for the first time, told the Daily Mail that the Italian league has improved him as a player.

Among other things, the young striker revealed that Erling Haaland is a motivation for him and that Jose Mourinho never said “well done” to him.

“There’s something inside me that tells me I want to do even better. I look to Erling Haaland, who’s the most talked about at the moment. I use that as a secret motivation to try to reach that level, too catch The success of the other players, that drives me.

If you had told me a few years ago that I would play in Italy, I would not have believed you. Leaving Chelsea was difficult, I had grown up there since I was seven. I didn’t know much about Italian football but it helped me develop as a player and as a person. I got out of the seat belt and have no regrets.

At Chelsea they clearly saw me as a goalscorer. Here I learned different aspects of the game. When our opponents have more possession, I know how to position myself defensively.

Mourinho knows how to talk to the players and has the best way to deal with each one. In my case, it never tells me how good I am. I never get a ‘well done’ at half time, although in the back of my mind I’m like, ‘You know I’m playing well’. He always wants you to be better.”
