Ranocchia said goodbye to football a day after divorcing with Monza
The amicable solution to his relationship with Monza was Andrea Ranocchia’s swan song as the 34-year-old Italian defender announced his retirement via his personal Instagram page.
After 12 years at Inter, from 2010 to 2022 (there were also three loan spells during this period, to Genoa, Sampdoria and Hull), Andrea Ranocchia opted for a move to Monza last summer but his presence at the newly enlightened Serie A Team turned out to be extremely short.
Following an injury sustained in Serie A’s second game against Napoli on 21 August (he had previously played against Frosinone in the Cup and Torino in the league opener), the tall defender decided to end her contract amicably .
In fact, this fact influenced him to a significant degree when Ranokia made the decision not to look for another team to continue his career, but to hang up his boots for good.
Something he shared through two videos he posted on his personal Instagram account, with the Italian declaring among other things: “It’s like a switch flipped inside me. I don’t think I’ll ever play football again.”
