Sanetti: “Lautaro is Inter’s property, we haven’t had any talks with Dybala because of Lukaku”
Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti praised the attacking duo of Martinez and Lukaku and made it clear that no attempt was made to sign Dybala due to the abundance of the Nerazzurri’s attacking line.
Inter have lost three (and won four) in their first seven Serie A games, which has left them in 7th place and -5 behind leaders Napoli and Atalanta, but Simone Inzaghi is still enjoying himself despite rumors of a move management’s confidence in technical leadership.
Javier Zanetti provided clarity with his statements at the Trento Sports Festival, who, in addition to his support for the coach (“There was never any talk of change”), referred to Martines, Lukaku and also to … Dybala.
“Did we regret Dybala? There were no negotiations. We got Lukaku and we were fully in the forward position, it would have been difficult to get a player of Dybala’s quality.
At Roma I see him happy, I know Mourinho well who will make him even better.”Sanetti first pointed out, to add:
“We’ve been watching Lautaro Martines for a long time. We felt he had the right profile for Inter, not just looking at the present but also looking at five years ahead.”
He’s fine, he’s a reference point for Inter and Argentina national team, he’s doing what a great player should do. He’s an asset to Inter.”
Regarding Lukaku’s return to action, Sanetti expressed his optimism that he will soon be available to his coach, with the most likely return leg against Roma in ‘Meatsa’, also making a special mention of current Giallorosso and former Nerazzurri, Jose Mourinho :
“He’s a great coach with personality. Jose gave us that leap to Europe by creating a group of players who won the Champions League in Madrid.
In the treble year we had an incredible mentality, we only accepted losing to another team if they did incredible things.”
