Seedorf: ‘I didn’t have any suggestions after Milan, there are very few black coaches in teams’

Clarence Seedorf has spoken out about the lack of chances in Italy after six months on the AC Milan bench and went public with his complaint about the low number of black coaches in football.

His football journey has been beyond brilliant considering the titles he’s won and the teams he’s played for including Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter Milan, but Clarence Seedorf couldn’t write off a career similar to the one he’s had Trainer. .

He sat on the Milan bench for no longer than six months (from January to June 2014), although those 22 games he represented as first coach did not open doors for him thereafter, beyond those of China’s Shenzhen (2016), Deportivo La Coruña (2018) and Cameroon national team (2018-19).

All of these were certainly experiences for the Dutch midfield veteran, who doesn’t hide his lamentation at the few opportunities he’s been given over the past eight years and is one of the few black managers to have a place in modern football.

“I was wondering why I didn’t have opportunities in Italy, I have two children who were born here. I don’t think it’s a racist country, I’ve always believed that. There are racists, but it’s not a racist country.”he stressed during his presence at the Turin Sports Festival, adding:

“When you see what happened, it’s hard to understand how those who came after me in Milan got jobs right away and I didn’t get an offer. After 20 years in Italy…

Or there were those who told me they didn’t want to insult me with an offer. Give me one and then I’ll decide whether I’m offended or not.”

Finally for Zeendroff with the following comment: “Not only in Italy, everywhere you look you find very few black coaches.

The first serious offer I got was from China, I accepted because I love to travel and make every design interesting. But it’s disappointing that I didn’t get a single call after Milan.”
