Kovacevic supports the Vlahovic-Kostic duo at Juventus
Dusan Vlahovic and Filip Kostic have not got off to a good start in this season’s Serie A with the Juventus kit, but Darko Kovacevic believes his two compatriots have all the resources to up the ante at the old club.
Last year Dusan Vlahovic impressed with Juventus after moving from Fiorentina in the second half of the season but this year a shadow of himself is emerging, while at the same time his compatriot Filip Kostic seems not to have adjusted to his new environment after moving from Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, both have shone in Serbia’s last two games against Sweden and Norway, with former Juventus and Olympiakos striker Darko Kovacevic guessing they are ready for… a restart with the Bianconeri.
“The season has just started and Juventus are plagued by injuries. It is obvious that things are not going well at the moment.
I can’t criticize a manager who has conquered as much as Allegri. I’m sure we’ll see a different Juve when Chiesa and Pogba return.
I think for Dusan it was just a matter of stress.”emphasized the 48-year-old Serbian veteran in an interview with the “Gazzetta dello Sport” and added:
“I remember myself having to score for three months. I tried but the ball didn’t go in. Maybe Vlahovic has the same problem.
He hasn’t scored in a gamestream since August 15 and will certainly benefit from his goal against Norway.
There’s no denying he doesn’t get enough balls at Juventus but soon there will be more good players backing him. Just think of Chiesa. The pressure on Juventus is great.”
As for the other Serbian international midfielder currently struggling at Torino, Filip Kostic, Kovacevic believes the left-footed player should be protected with a wall of trust:
“Let’s give him time. He’s not even two months old and has to get used to a new football and a new country. He may not be Messi but he has to do everything well.”
I would pay to have someone like him on my team when I play. I would have scored more goals with his crosses.”
It is recalled that Kovacevic won the league in competition with Juventus and Lazio, scoring 26 goals in 71 games with the Bianconeri.
