Allegri: “We are retiring from coaching, I never thought of quitting”
Massimo Allegri made it clear after the Maccabi Haifa defeat that he had never considered the possibility of stepping down from the Juventus bench, while revealing the side will retire ahead of Saturday’s derby against Torino.
The 2-0 defeat by Maccabi in Haifa hurt Juventus but their men remain united and send a clear message that they will fight to turn things around.
Andrea Agnelli, who was ashamed, made it clear that Massimo Allegri would remain in his position, while the Italian coach took over the baton, who rejected the scenario of his resignation from the technical leadership and revealed that the team was facing the city derby against Turin (October 15, 7 p.m., COSMOTE SPORT 2 HD, LIVE from Sportish).
“It’s difficult to explain the situation, we just have to be calm. We haven’t met high standards, especially in character. We come home to work harder than before, we have to get out of this situation.
Tomorrow we return to Italy and stay at our training center in Continassa until the derby. We should understand that it is not a technical or tactical problem, but a matter of heart and passion.
We play too much individually and I don’t like that. I wanted us to play as a team and be solid and we did the opposite. We have three days to prepare for the game against Torino.
Agnelli is right, we should be ashamed, we had the worst first part of the season, now we have to stop and face each other, it’s not right to perform like that.” stressed Massimo Allegri, to add regarding the possibility of his resignation:
“I didn’t think about retiring in any way, it’s a challenge and when it gets difficult, it gets even better. We have to come out of this situation with courage and great passion.”
