Allegri: “We showed that we are a team, the players are going home tonight”
Juventus won their local derby with Torino to celebrate away for the first time in Serie A this season and Massimo Allegri spoke about the character of his side and revealed his self-imposed hiatus is over.
Juventus entered the Derby della Mole with the psychology of the Tatars after enduring the midweek 2-0 defeat by Maccabi Haifa, but the final of the game at the “Olimpico” found the Bianconeri embraced.
Cause Vlahovic’s goal that gave them a 1-0 win over Torino, their first away game in Serie A since last April, with Massimo Allegri standing in his first statements on his team’s character, revealing that the Ritiro, the imposed in recent days (the team has remained closed at their training center since Thursday) no longer exists.
“The boys showed today that we are a team. They were organised, starting with the way we controlled the game, we had a lot of attempts at goal. I’m happy, especially because it was the first win away from home of the season.
We hadn’t scored in three of our last five games and it wasn’t easy. My players showed character.”Allegri pointed out to add: “It’s disappointing that we’ve had these last results, but sometimes situations arise that get out of control.
We took a small step tonight to get out of that situation, I had no doubts we would do that and now we have to move on. I felt comfortable on the bench after seeing that the team had the right approach.
We could have scored earlier and I had more chances but those will come with time as we gradually improve.”
As for the team’s infamous withdrawal to the Continassa training center after the defeat in Israel and leading up to the game against Torino, Allegri signaled… the end of the alarm: “I told the kids they were going home tonight to hug their loved ones one more time.”
