Kyriakopoulos: ‘Olympiacos wanted me, that’s the truth about Trabzonspor’
Sassuolo’s international left-back Giorgos Kyriakopoulos was a guest on the Must Go On show and spoke about his experiences in Serie A, the national team and his summer proposals, among other things.
Speaking on Monday’s Must Go On show (31/10), Giorgos Kyriakopoulos referred, among other things, to his experiences in Serie A, the national team and the superweapon that exists at the left end of defence, but also the suggestions he had in the summer, among others, from Olympiakos.
Whether he watches football in Greece: “Whenever I have time I look. I never see my former teams. And Lamia and Asteras. Asteras didn’t start well, they have a problem in attack, but they are good defensively and that keeps them in the table“.
On the level of football in Italy and whether it has fallen: “Compared to previous years, when transfers like Ronaldo and Lukaku were made, the level has increased, now it has decreased compared to the German. This year, the courses of the Italian teams in Europe are not bad, but the Serie A has fallen, but there is competition.
Napoli escaped, but there are many competitors. If you exclude Juventus, the other four, Napoli, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Atalanta are sometimes title contenders“.
Cabout the national team, the options at left-back and how difficult it is to be called up for the national team: “We’re a lot of left-backs and that’s good for the manager because he has options. I have an excellent relationship with the children, we have healthy competition. The coach decides who plays, but for my part I always try to be ready.
The criterion by which a player should play is his pace. From there it’s fine with me if the manager picks someone because it suits their style better. I’m always on the coach’s calls and ready to offer anything at any time. I want to establish myself in the national team, I haven’t been able to do that in recent years, but I’m waiting for my chance“.
Whether he is thinking about establishing himself as a left winger in the national team: ‘If such an opportunity arises, why not. And Fan Sip tried me as a midfielder. If it’s about establishing myself in that position, I’ll learn it, or establishing myself in goals and assists, I’ll do it. For me it is welcome“.
For the suggestions he had this summer: “I had suggestions, there were two or three teams, Olympiacos was among them. I chose not to go there because I felt it wasn’t the best thing for me to go and I chose to stay here where I feel better. This year I’m hoping for a better year and going either in January or in the summer. As for Trabzonspor, I didn’t have a suggestion“.

Incredible scene in Rome – Napoli where Jose Mourinho first chants Quaratschelia and then within ten seconds hugs, kisses and talks to him as if he were his father.
In the 37th minute of the game, the Georgian international earned a foul and a yellow card from his opponent, in a phase that took place in front of Mourinho, who insisted that there was not even a foul.
Afterwards, the Portuguese technician initially shouted at Kvaratshelias, telling him that he was just acting, but as he approached Georgianos, he hugged him, kissed him and began talking to him in a very calm tone while the two men found each other. A little later, the recording showed Mourinho having a very friendly chat with Osimen.
