Ibrahimovic: ‘Haaland’s development will depend on Guardiola’s ego’
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hit back at Pep Guardiola, stressing he didn’t let him develop when the two worked together at Barcelona while voicing his doubts about Erling Haaland.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic worked alongside Pep Guardiola at Barcelona in the 2009/10 season. After almost 12 years, the Swedish star tipped his hat to the Spanish technician, speaking to Canal+.
After referring to the transfer of Erling Haaland to Manchester City, which he had promised, he emphasized that the Norwegian’s development would depend on Guardiola’s selfishness.
In fact, he “blamed” the 51-year-old for not letting him get better, which happened to other players as well.
“I like Haaland a lot. I think he’s a very smart player. He doesn’t do things he’s not capable of. He doesn’t go down to get the ball but he waits in front of goal and kills everyone .He reminds me of players like Filippo Inzaghi. David Trezeguet, Christian Vieri. It is the new version of this player.
Whether Haaland develops depends on Guardiola’s ego, whether he lets him grow or not. It didn’t let me develop, not just me, but many others as well.” said the Swede characteristically.
