Atalanta – Napoli 1-2: train without brakes and in Bergamo
Napoli sped past Bergamo with a 2-1 win over Atalanta in the top-flight Serie A derby to knock a key rival out of the Scudetto race.
Napoli emerged victorious from the Serie A title derby on Matchday 13. That 2-1 against Atalanta in Bergamo he increased the gap between the two teams to eight points and effectively left the “Partenopei” with one opponent less in pursuit of the Scudetto.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s team came on stronger, looked for the goal and finally found it thanks to VAR. At a corner in the 19th minute, a hand from Victor Osimen went unnoticed by the referee, but seeing the situation on VIDEO, he awarded a penalty, which Ademola Lukman converted into a goal.
The reaction of the guests was immediate. In the 23rd minute, Victor Oshimen equalized with a header to make it 1-1, in the 35th minute the Nigerian striker took three opponents in a row and gave Elif Elmas the breakthrough at the right moment.
The action slowed after the third goal and picked up momentum again in the 2nd half, with the home side continuing to push hard. In between, they could have equalized in the 56th minute, but first Alex Meret prevented the 2:2 with one hand in a shot by Joachim Malle and the rebound on the post in an attempt by Matias Olivera.
The changes slowed the pace, a condition that favored Napoli, who also had a good moment with Giovani Simeone. The last few minutes were more of a suspense than phases, so it was 2-1 until the end and Napoli remained undefeated in the border area.
