The Champions League round of 16 draw has put Eintracht on Napoli’s path, with Luciano Spalletti advising his side to exercise caution but also expressing satisfaction at not being set to face Paris.

Napoli have been on the right track since the start of the season, starring in Italy and Europe, with Partenopei topping the Serie A standings with 11 wins – 2 draws and +6 against 2nd Milan, placing them in the last 16 Top teams belongs to this year’s Champions League with 5 wins and 1 loss in the group stage.

Understandably, the fans’ appetites are whetted by the fact that Luciano Spalletti’s team not only wins, but also combines it with attacking and attractive football, while the fact that it does not face any of the giants on the way to the “8” of the Champions League European football raises expectations.

Spalletti himself was publicly satisfied that his team did without Paris in the “16” (they were among the possible opponents), although the experienced coach made it clear that Eintracht had to face up to the heavy bill that was due.

“At this level, any draw is difficult, although we like to avoid Paris. But Eintracht are the defending Europa League champions, the second biggest competition in Europe, and they are above them.

It’s definitely not going to be easy.” he pointed out on Napoli’s official website that the two teams will face off after 29 years. Their last meeting came in the 1994 UEFA Cup Round of 16 when Germany clinched two 1-0 wins and Napoli now have a chance to take revenge at one of the best periods in their history.
