The Portuguese FA just want Mourinho to follow Santos
Jose Mourinho is a suitable replacement for Fernando Santos on the Portuguese bench, according to the FA, who is doing everything he can to reach an agreement with the Special Ones as soon as possible.
After eight years and two trophies, Fernando Santos resigned from the Portuguese bench on Thursday (16/12).
The country’s football association is already looking ahead to the next day and is looking for a replacement for the 68-year-old coach. The first – and seemingly only – choice to replace Santos is Jose Mourinho.
The Roma coach is the association’s priority, even with parallel work in the Italian team.
According to the Portuguese O Jogo, the President, Fernando Gomez wants the Special One so badly that there is no plan B and no alternative options should the two sides fail to reach an agreement.
Instead, the association wants to act quickly to find the golden ratio with the Portuguese as soon as possible.
