Serbian President: “Mihailovic will remain an inspiration and role model for generations of young players”

The death of Sinisa Mihajlovic has rocked the world of football and beyond. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said goodbye to his compatriot with an emotional post on Instagram.

Sinisa Mihajlovic has been with us since Friday afternoon (12/16) after his three-year battle with leukemia was uneventful. The footballers were shocked by his loss and wanted to say goodbye with words of love, but also the apotheosis of what he stood for at the age of 53.

In fact, he had such an impact on Serbian football that the country’s President, Aleksandar Vucic, published a lengthy post on his official Instagram account, noting the great personality of the deceased.

“I am incredibly touched by the news of the death of Sinisa Mihajlovic, a legend of our and European football and a patriot who loved Serbia with all his heart.

The way he understood and played football, in which he spent his entire life as a player and coach, will be remembered by all for his unique talent and character.

Micah’s mark on the sport has been marked by the passion he left on the pitch and the emotion he showed through both winning and losing


He led Red Star to the top of the world, marking the most beautiful history of this team and Serbian football.

Few words could describe his masterly skills on the field and he will be remembered by all. He has always dedicated love to his team, family and country with pride and sincerity.

He faced the terrible disease with fighting spirit and openness, with an unshakeable spirit like he had on the field. He was a top athlete, respected by teammates and opponents alike, and Micah’s style of play will remain a lasting inspiration and role model for generations of young footballers.

My deepest condolences to Sinisa Mihailovic’s family, friends and fans. Rest in peace”, wrote about Mihajlovic, the No. 1 citizen of Serbia.
