Guillermo Ochoa has said goodbye to Club America via social media and is close to a move to Serie A. The 37-year-old Mexico international goalkeeper is expected to undergo a medical before joining Salernitana.

A legend of Mexican football (he took part in five World Cups with the sombreros) leaves his home country and embarks on a new adventure in one of the best leagues in Europe, the Italian one.

The reason for Guillermo Ochoa, as the 37-year-old international goalkeeper remains on a free transfer from Club America at the end of 2022 and decides to officially say goodbye a little earlier given the new page being turned in his career.

“The time has come to find new horizons, new challenges, new adventures that will allow me to grow as a person and as a footballer.

I thank Club America for their support at the time of my new election. I hope this will only be a short break in our history.” he wrote via his official Facebook account Ochoawho, according to Italian media, is just a breath away from becoming a resident of Salerno.

According to Sky Sports Italia, he will undergo a medical for Salernitana next Thursday (22/12) as their main goalkeeper Luigi Sepe is out for the whole of January with an injury at the end of this season.

In fact, it’s not out of the question – if all goes as desired – that things will go straight to the bottom, as Salernitana’s first game since Serie A resumes is scheduled for January 4, 2023 at home against champions Milan.
