Ochoa came to Italy to sign for Salernitana at the end of the season
Guillermo Ochoa is just one step away from starting a new chapter in his career. The 37-year-old Mexican goalkeeper arrives in Italy to undergo medical tests and sign for Salernitana.
Guillermo Ochoa has become famous among the football public for his performances at the World Cup with Mexico (he reached 5 World Cups in his career in the stadiums of Qatar), but it is possible that he will carry his name even more frequently in the rest of the season heard and written.
And that’s because he made the decision to leave his homeland and Club America and take on a new challenge by moving to the famous Italian league to defend the homeland of Salernitana.
The Salerno team “chased” him as their own main goalkeeper Luigi Sepe will be in the pits until at least the end of January and Ochoa said goodbye to the Mexicans, with whom he had a contract until the end of 2022, to reach an agreement with the Italian team.
On Thursday afternoon (December 22) he landed at the “Capodichino” airport in Naples and traveled from there by car to neighboring Salerno. Sky Sport Italia reported that he will sign a contract if he passes the required medical tests by June 30, 2023.
It is noted that Salernitana (currently 12th in Serie A) will be Ochoa’s first stop in Italy, with the legendary Mexican goalkeeper in Mexico (Club America), France (Ajaccio), Spain (Malaga, Granada) and Belgium so far (Liège standard).
