Quaratshelia: “Ronaldo is my idol, Quaradona is my favorite nickname”
The leader of Napoli’s Scudetto bid, Kvitsa Kvarachelia, has opened up in an interview about why he prefers Ronaldo Messi while referring to his favorite Maradona-inspired moniker.
Milan were the team to win the Scudetto in 2022, ending an 11-year losing streak, but the second half of the year was dominated by Napoli, who amassed 41 points from their first 15 games unbeaten (13 wins – 2 draws) and galloped towards the title in Serie A, 8 points behind second-placed Rossoneri.
There is no doubt that Kvitsa Kvaratthelia, with the virtuoso midfielder of Georgia, is the man on whom the Partenopei have pinned high hopes of returning to the top for the first time since 1990 gives an interview and expresses his loyalty to the Napoli League.
“It was my dream to play at such a top club and since I’ve been here a lot of Georgians have supported Napoli. Every time I’m on the pitch I give my all, I believe in the league.”
All the nicknames I’ve been given are nice and nice, but when you go by a lot of Maradona’s name it’s an honor and it creates a unique feeling.
“Quaradona” is my favorite nickname‘ insisted the Georgian midfielder, who when asked who he prefers between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, favors the Portuguese:
“I decided to play with the number 77, but there is no other direct connection. ‘7’ is my favorite number, apart from being Ronaldo’s shirt number, so I chose ’77’.
Regarding the dilemma, I’ve always said that it’s very difficult to compare Messi with Ronaldo, but I respect Ronaldo a lot because it’s complicated to have an opponent like Messi for so long, and that’s why Ronaldo is my idol.
Messi is definitely a fantastic player and it’s always nice to see him play.”
